Lakers Sign Trio of Forwards

LondonLakers_4C_Draft1The London Lakers are pleased to announce the signing of forwards Charlie Yelkin, Nathaniel Schwartz, and Noah Carty.

Charlie Yelkin, a native of Eagle, Nebraska, is a 1996 born forward who plays a physical game and does not shy away from the fisticuffs. Playing Junior A for the Wooster Oilers in the MnJHL last season, Charlie totalled 85 penalty minutes in 17 games. Yelkin stands 5’10” and weighs 217lbs.

Nathaniel Schwartz, a native of Aurora, Ohio, stands 6’0” and weighs 160lbs, and is coming from the NA3HL where he played Junior A. The 1997 born forward split his time between the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks and the Pittsburgh Vengeance, recording 6 points in 23 games.

“I’m excited for this great opportunity to grow and progress in my hockey career. It’s a real privilege,” said Schwartz of signing with the London Lakers.

Noah Carty, a product on Mississauga, Ontario, is a speedy 1997 born forward with a knack for putting the puck in the net. Carty spent last season with the Streetsville Tigers, and also played high school hockey for Port Credit Secondary School.

At 5’11”, 170lbs, Noah, whose brother Dawson plays for the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers, was a standout at the London Lakers spring skate.

“I’m very excited to join this new team, I think it’s a perfect place to develop and will be a great experience,” says Carty of signing in London.

The London Lakers are an expansion team in the Junior A GMHL. The organization is looking for billet families to host out of town players, including this group of recently signed forwards. Families interested in hosting a London Lakers player this season will be compensated, and receive seasons tickets to watch the Lakers play.
