Foster, a1995 born goaltender and a 4th round pick of the Erie Otters in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, spent the 2014-2015 playing Junior A hockey with the Cheyenne Stampede of the WSHL and before that, the Hamilton Red Wings of the OJHL.

“We expect Corey to be a premiere goaltender in our league, and to become an immediate top recruit of college programs,” says Lakers Director of Player Personnel, Ian Kennedy. “He brings with him a wealth of Junior A experience, which will go a long way toward helping us achieve our team goal of a GMHL championship” continued Kennedy.

Head Coach Jeff Zehr is also excited about the signing stating “Corey is a team first guy who will make the big saves and is ready to win some big games for us this year. His experience at the Jr A level will help him come into the season hungry to win. Corey puts in the work to succeed and better himself all year long.”

The Corey Foster signing gives the Lakers two goaltenders signed and ready to go for next season. Foster will meet his netminding counterpart, Rio Virgoe as well as other teammates and team hopefuls at the Lakers main camp on August 15th and August 16th at the London Sports Park.

“I’m very excited to work with Corey and Rio. I believe we have the league’s two hardest working goaltenders. Both guys are tremendous pieces to what we are building here. I just hope they’ll let me score every now and then in practice.”
